We are pleased to share that all Northern Michigan Hart Medical Equipment locations have returned to normal operations as of today (April 7). Power and internet have been fully restored, and regular retail services are now available at the Cheboygan, Gaylord, and Petoskey showrooms.

We want to thank our patients, partners, and communities for their patience and understanding throughout the recovery process following the historic ice storm. Your understanding and support have been greatly appreciated.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the utility crews and emergency response teams who worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to restore power and safety to the affected regions.

Hart Medical Equipment remains committed to serving you with excellence—through every challenge and every season. Should any new developments arise, we will share them as needed.

Thank you for choosing Hart Medical Equipment.

March 31, 2025 - 9:58 am

Due to continued hazardous conditions from the ice storm, our Cheboygan, Gaylord, and Petoskey showrooms will remain closed on Tuesday, April 1. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as conditions improve.

March 30, 2025 - 7:00 pm

Hart Medical Equipment will be temporarily closing our Cheboygan, Gaylord, and Petoskey showrooms on Monday, March 31, due to the ongoing severe weather conditions in Northern Lower Michigan. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our patients, staff, and community, as widespread power outages and hazardous road conditions continue to impact the region.

A significant ice storm swept through northern Michigan over the weekend, downing trees and power lines and leaving thousands without electricity. Many roads in the area are currently impassable, with large trees and utility lines obstructing travel routes.

In response to the storm, Governor Gretchen Whitmer activated the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) at noon on Sunday, March 30. The SEOC, located in Lansing and overseen by the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD), is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with local officials and private sector partners to ensure a swift and effective emergency response.

Local authorities are advising residents to avoid travel if possible. If you have urgent equipment needs or questions, please contact our Customer Service team at 888-606-8778, and we will do our best to assist you.

We will continue to monitor updates from emergency management officials and plan to reopen our showrooms as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

Warming Shelter Resources for Northern Michigan Residents

As severe weather continues to impact Northern Michigan, many residents remain without power. For patients and community members in need of a safe, warm place to go, several shelters have been established throughout the region.

If you are in Emmet County and need transportation to a shelter, please call the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office at 231-348-1782. They are providing assistance with transport to available warming shelters.

If you are planning to go to a warming station, we urge patients to bring necessary accommodations with them, including: medications, oxygen equipment, chargers or battery backups, extra clothing and blankets, and other similar items.

Once road conditions improve and it is safe for our staff to travel, we will begin triaging and prioritizing deliveries to ensure that patients receive the equipment and supplies they need as quickly as possible. Please watch this post for more information as we work through logistics.
