Philips Respironics Masks with Magnets Recall

On September 6, 2022, Philips Respironics alerted customers worldwide of updated instructions and labeling of specific sleep therapy masks that contain magnetic headgear clips due to potential risk of serious injury. The FDA announced this recall related to certain Respironics nasal and face masks that contain a magnet.

Below are the official notifications:

The above letter from Respironics explains the safety risks with the magnet masks along with the masks affected by this recall. Magnets can create health risks with implanted metallic devices or metallic objects in the body of a patient or their bed partner.  Hart Medical Equipment recommends any patient with a metallic device or object in the body consults with their physician about the continued use of the mask with a magnet. Should your physician recommend discontinuing your mask, Hart can assist you in obtaining a new mask. Your insurance may require documentation from your physician as to the location of the metallic device or object in order to cover a new mask, so communication with your physician is very important. Please note that if you or your bed partner do not have metallic devices or objects in your body, your magnet mask is safe for you to continue using.
